Janus CEO Black Rescinds CIO Title to Focus on Sales
Gary Black, chief executive officer at Janus, will no longer also function as the firm's chief investment officer, so that he can spend more time on attracting assets. The firm has named portfolio managers Jonathan Coleman and Gibson Smith as co-CIOs.

Schappert Becomes CEO Of Credit Suisse Americas
Credit Suisse has hired Keith "Kim" Schappert as managing director and chief executive officer of asset management in the Americas. He will also serve on the firm's CEO management committee for the Americas. Schappert comes to the firm from Federated Investment Advisory Cos., the investment management arm of Federated Investments, where he was president and CEO. Before that, he worked for more than 25 years at JPMorgan Investment Management, his last position as president and CEO.
GAMCO Names Plewniak Director of Fixed Income
GAMCO Investors has named Wayne C. Plewniak managing director of Gabelli Fixed Income, a GAMCO subsidiary. In this position, Plewniak will focus on high yield and leveraged credit-rated products. He will also join the investment team of the GAMCO Global Convertible Securities Fund.
Plewniak was previously a managing director and senior portfolio manager at Lehman Brothers/Neuberger Berman. Before that, he headed up high-yield management at Lipper & Co. before Neuberger acquired it in 2002. He has also worked at General Motors, Goldome FSB, Paribas N.A. and Bell Atlantic Capital.
Burnham Join Deutsche as Director, Vice Chairman
Christopher B. Burnham has joined Deutsche Bank as managing director and vice chairman of Deutsche Asset Management, reporting to Kevin Parker, global head of Deutsche Asset Management.
Burnham will be responsible for developing key client relationships, undertaking special projects and serving on the firm's global operating committee.
Burnham comes to the firm from the United Nations, where he was Under-Secretary General, reporting to Secretary General Kofi Annan. Before that, he was acting Under Secretary of State for Management at the Department of State, reporting to Condoleezza Rice. Prior to that position at the Department of State, Burnham was CFO and Assistant Secretary of State for Resource Management, reporting to Colin Powell.
Before working in government, Burnham was vice chairman of PIMCO Funds and president and CEO of its equity management subsidiary, Columbus Circle Investors. Earlier, he was Treasurer of the State of Connecticut.
