American Century CEO, President Lyons to Retire; Thomas to Take Position

William Lyons, president for 10 years and chief executive officer of six and a half years at American Century Investments, is retiring. Jonathan Thomas, executive vice president and chief financial officer, will assume Lyons' duties March 1. Lyons, 51, is nearly a 20-year veteran at American Century.

"Over the past decade, Bill has been a wonder-ful leader of American Century, guiding our successful strategic effort to diversify the company's asset management capabilities to encompass the entire investment spectrum while spearheading our drive to expand the channels of distribution," said James Stowers III, chairman of American Century.

Prior to joining American Century, Thomas was a managing director and global chief operating officer of the investment division at Morgan Stanley. Previously, he worked in a variety of senior leadership roles for Bank of America, Boston Financial Services and Fidelity Investments.

Ramsay Joins Robeco to Co-Head Fixed Income

James A. Ramsay has joined Robeco Investment Management, the U.S. asset management division of Robeco Group, as co-head of U.S. fixed income along with Daniel Vandivort. His title will be senior managing director, and he will also serve on the firm's management committee.

Ramsay previously was a senior vice president with PIMCO and has 23 years of experience, including stints with AIG/SunAmerica, Unum Provident and Salomon Brothers, where he worked as a portfolio manager on both traditional and structured products.

"Robeco fixed income clients will continue to benefit from strong leadership, client focus and a strong asset base," said William Kelley, chief executive officer of Robeco Investment Management.

Sentinel Names DeVera Vice President, Director

Joseph DeVera has joined Sentinel Asset Management as vice president, director of investment strategy, in charge of overseeing the investment portfolios of Sentinel Funds and National Life Group.

DeVera spent the past 12 years at Deutsche Asset Management, the last six of which he was a director and senior client portfolio manager. Before that, he was vice president, institutional client relationship manager.

"Joe joins our investment team as an important leader in our strategy to position and communicate our unique investment process and results with fund advisors and research teams," said Christian W. Thwaites, president and chief executive officer of Sentinel. "The sales process has changed in recent years, and the prevalence of open architecture and wrap accounts means that the information needs of our customers have grown in sophistication."
