Fidelity Investments said the “internal” issue that blocked access to online accounts Wednesday “has been resolved.”

Fidelity would not comment on what caused the snafu.

A service alert on the company’s homepage had said, “We understand that some clients are unable to log in right now due to an internal technical issue. We expect the issue to be resolved shortly and apologize for any inconvenience. Please try again shortly.”

The alert later read, “We understand that some clients have been unable to log in due to an internal technical issue. The issue has been resolved at this time. Please try again.”
