Industry Moves

Jim Wall has joined Nvest Services as senior vice president and deputy general counsel, a new position in which he will oversee legal and compliance affairs for Nvest affiliates. Nvest expects Wall's experience will prove particularly helpful to affiliates that do not have in-house counsel. Wall was previously senior legal counsel at Fidelity Investments where he concentrated on new product launches, product modifications, mergers and liquidations of funds and proxy solicitations.

Richard Buoncore, previously president and chief operating officer of Key Asset Management of Cleveland, a division of KeyCorp, has been promoted to president and chief executive officer, and Bradley Turner has been promoted to chief operating officer from his previous position as senior managing director. William Spears, who was previously chief executive officer and chairman, will retain his title as chairman. Company officials say KeyCorp made these changes because it sees asset management as an important area of growth for KeyCorp, which has $80 billion of assets under management.

John Sharry has been promoted to president, retail division of Phoenix Investment Partners of Hartford. Sharry was previously an executive vice president at Phoenix. In his new role, Sharry will continue to focus on the company's products and distribution, but also assume responsibility for all aspects of Phoenix's retail business. Before joining Phoenix in 1995, Sharry was a managing director and director of retail marketing at Putnam Investments in Boston.
