John Story, formerly an executive vice president at Montgomery Asset Management of San Francisco, has joined X.com of Palo Alto, Calif., an Internet-based financial services company. Story will oversee the development and sales of mutual funds as president of X.com's asset management subsidiary. He will also serve as executive vice president of X.com. The company will launch its funds later this year. These will include an S&P 500 fund, a U.S. aggregate bond fund and a high-yielding money market fund.

The chairman and chief executive officer of John Hancock Funds of Boston, Edward Boudreau, will retire at the end of the year, having spent 32 years at Hancock. Boudreau has been chairman and CEO of John Hancock Funds for the past 11 years. Upon Boudreau's retirement, Maureen Ford, president of John Hancock Broker/Dealer Distribution and Financial Advisory Network, will assume his position.

The Security Benefit Group of Companies of Topeka, Kan., has promoted Leasa Huffman to second vice president of sales support. In this role, Huffman is responsible for supporting field sales of mutual funds and annuities. She was previously assistant vice president of annuity sales support.
