Robert J. O'Connell, president and chief executive officer of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company of Springfield, Mass., has been named to the additional positions of chairman of the board of directors and chairman. He succeeds Thomas B. Wheeler, who, at 63, is retiring as chairman. The appointment will be effective Jan. 1. O'Connell joined MassMutual in late 1998 after a nine-year stint at American International Group of New York.
The Forum for Investor Advice of Bethesda, Md. has elected Greg Johnson, president of Franklin Templeton USA of St. Petersburg, Fla., to a two-year term as co-chairman. Johnson joined Franklin Templeton in 1986 after working as a senior accountant at Coopers & Lybrand of New York.
Sarah Dunn, executive vice president at Reuters America Holdings and executive vice president for global accounts for Reuters America, both of New York, has been named chief executive officer of Lipper of New York, a Reuters division. Dunn will assume her new position Jan. 1.
