Vanguard Group announced that registered users of its Access Vanguard website may prepare and file their tax returns online for free, using Intuit's WebTurboTax. The online tax program can cost as much as $40 if purchased in stores.
WebTurboTax offers a step-by-step process for completing 1998 federal and state income tax returns. Users may also file their returns electronically for free, which speeds tax refund delivery. To gain access to WebTurboTax, users must have Netscape Navigator version 4.0 or higher or Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher.
