Best Booth Giveaway

Sincere & Co won the award for best booth giveaway at the conference. Luckily these stuffed animals, which were very popular with attendees, did not start another Great Chicago Fire like Mrs. O'Leary's Cow.

Best Panel

By many accounts, “NAPFA Client Perspective: A Women's Panel Discussion, sponsored by the TD Ameritrade Women's Initiative,” was the best panel at the conference. (Far right) Terry Savage, a syndicated financial columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times, led a panel of female investors who shared their perspectives on investing. Next to her is Kate Healy, director, solutions marketing & industry relations, at TD Ameritrade Institutional.

Best Booth

Quite literally, Scout Investments' booth drew a lot of attention. The company hired an an artists (in the hat) that did self portraits with his finger on an iPad that only took five minutes. See the “painting” of this lucky attendee in the orange shirt to the left.

An Upbeat Outlook

Austan Goolsbee, a professor at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, gave a keynote presentation: "Standing Still or Standing Up? Laying the Groundwork for U.S. Recovery."

During the presentation, he stressed that if advisors and investors look past the short run at the medium run, the U.S. economic picture does not look that bad.

Next Gen Advisors

There was a NAPFA Genesis social that drew in over 30 attendees, likely the future leaders of the financial planning industry.
