Greg Clarkson

Executive Vice President & SBA Division Manager, BBVA Compass

Greg Clarkson currently serves as the Executive Vice President and Division Manager for BBVA Compass’ SBA Division. Clarkson has 25 years of banking experience, the last 16 years in the SBA industry. As a member of the original team that established BBVA Compass’ SBA Division in 1996, he has helped increase the current production level to over $270 million annually. Prior to becoming Division Manager, Clarkson was the National Sales Manager with responsibilities that include managing a company wide SBA sales and underwriting force. Prior to managing the sales force, Clarkson was responsible for all operational aspects of the SBA Division including closing, funding, accounting, servicing and liquidation. Clarkson is active in the industry trade association, National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders, currently serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. He has served in various national and regional NAGGL leadership roles including membership in the Executive Committee, Large Bank Committee, Government Relations Committee and Region VI Technical Issues Committee. He frequently works with Congress and SBA Central Office staff to resolve issues surrounding the delivery of capital to the nation’s small businesses. In 2008, Clarkson received the trade association’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award. In addition to his industry work, he is on the Board of Trustees for the North Texas Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Clarkson received a Finance degree from the University of Oklahoma.
