In a new episode of the Financial Planning podcast, financial advisor Hannah Moore explained why an online FPA program has industry-changing potential.

In addition to founding Dallas-area Guiding Wealth, Moore is host of the “You’re a Financial Planner, Now What?”podcast, the administrator of the popular industry Facebook group FPA Activate and the director of the FPA’s Virtual Externship. Now in its second year, the Externship offers college students and career changers a new path into the profession, through 180 hours in rigorous instruction the participants can use toward their academic or CE credits.

With the Externship running through July, FP Chief Correspondent Tobias Salinger asked Moore these four questions about how the program works and its potential to usher more talent into planning:

1. For listeners who aren’t familiar with the Externship, what are the main differences between the FPA’s program and a traditional summer internship?

2. How many presenters are you expecting this summer to participate and how many students do you expect to attend?

3. You’ve said that you and the other organizers view this program as having the potential to change the profession. Why do you see it as possibly transformational?

4. You give so much of your time and energy to the FPA. Why do you feel so motivated to be involved with the organization?
