Mega Team Leaves J.P. Morgan for Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo Advisors has lured away a nearly $1 billion wealth management practice from J.P. Morgan Private Bank.

Reed, Gates, Strait Wealth Management Group joined the Wells Fargo's office in Lexington, Ky. The group consists of advisors Mike Reed, Zach Gates and Eli Strait, who managed more than $972 million in combined client assets and deposits at J.P. Morgan.

J.P. Morgan Loses Advisor to Janney Montgomery Scott

Advisors Dan Carney and Stuart Peterson moved over to Janney in South Kingstown, R.I., where they opened a new office for the firm. Also joining them is Beth Friedman, a branch operations assistant, and Paula Cummings, a registered private client assistant.

The team will report to Steve Pitassi, branch manager of Janney's Providence, R.I., office.

RBC Lures Away $1.8M Advisor Team

RBC Wealth Management-U.S. grabbed a trio of financial advisors generating $1.8 million in annual revenue from Oppenheimer & Co.

Advisors Paul J. Pallo, Jeffrey Laster and Frederick Levine joined RBC's office in Florham Park, N.J. Also moving to RBC are Paula Kirejevas, senior registered client associate, Jenilee Hill, registered client associate and Kyle Boughton, client associate.

The group managed $151 million in assets while at Oppenheimer.

Raymond James Opens New Omaha, Neb. Office

Raymond James & Associates has recruited financial advisors from RBC and TD Ameritrade, including one with $100 million in assets under management.


Advisor Tim Ziola left RBC Capital Markets, where he managed $100 million in client assets and generated more than $700,000 in annual revenue. He joins Raymond James as a branch manager and advisor, and oversees the firm's first office in Nebraska.


Ziola is joined at the Omaha office by Edward Zbylut, who had been at TD Ameritrade since 2004. Ziola earned his Series 7 in 2003, according to FINRA records. He worked at Edward Jones until joining RBC in 2011.

RBC Grabs Wirehouse Advisor Team

A Merrill Lynch team managing $103 million in assets has left the wirehouse to join RBC Wealth Management.

Advisor Daniel Thompson, senior financial associate Matt Rittenhouse and senior client associate Alyson Frantz joined RBC's Indianapolis office as the Thompson Wealth Management Group. The group reports to Rhys Helt, director of the Indianapolis branch.

While at Merrill, the team generated about $1.2 million in annual production. Thompson had been at Merrill since 2004, according to FINRA records. Rittenhouse had been with the wirehouse since 2007.

Janney Montgomery Scott Nabs Wirehouse Team

A wife-and-husband advisor team has left Wells Fargo Advisors to join regional firm Janney Montgomery Scott.

Advisors Sandra and Joseph A. Bell joined Janney's office Marietta, Ohio, where they will report to branch manager William Howell.

Sandra Bell is an industry veteran, having started her career with Bache Halsey Stuart Shields in 1981, according to FINRA records. That firm was shortly thereafter acquired by Prudential Securities. Her husband Joseph started his career in Prudential in 1994. The Bells stayed through mergers with Wachovia and Wells Fargo.

Independent Advisor Returns to Employee Channel

An independent advisor managing $165 million in assets has left LPL Financial to join Ameriprise as an employee advisor, according to a firm spokeswoman.

Advisor Charles Alexander Smith joined Ameriprise Advisor Group's office in Mesa, Ariz., where he will report to branch manager Philip Waxelbaum, who in turn reports to Jeremy Straub, Southwest regional vice president.

RBC Grabs Wirehouse Advisor With $116M AUM

Todd Watson left Wells Fargo advisors to join RBC Wealth Management's office in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where he will report to branch director Jim Jahnsen.

While at Wells Fargo, Watson generated $655,000 in annual revenue, according to a statement from RBC.

Watson has nearly three decades of industry experience, having started his career in 1986, according to FINRA documents. He worked at firms Prudential Securities, Janney Montgomery Scott and Morgan Keegan before joining Wells Fargo in 2009.

Wirehouse Advisor Goes Independent With Washington Wealth

A veteran Morgan Stanley advisor managing $100 million in assets moved to Washington Wealth Management, which is affiliated with NFP Advisor Services.

Advisor Nadia Dickinson joined Washington Wealth on Sept. 30, forming Dickinson Graham Capital Management.

She is a longtime veteran of Morgan Stanley, having started her career at the wirehouse in 1984, according to FINRA records. Her newly formed independent practice is based in Lancaster, Calif., about 65 miles north of Los Angeles.

Barclays Loses Advisor to Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management

Barclays advisor Kevin Laurie moved to Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management as a director and client advisor in the firm's private client services office in New York where he will report to John Sutton, managing director and regional executive.

Laurie is a veteran of industry, having started his financial services career in 1987 with Salomon Brothers, according to FINRA records. He later joined Morgan Stanley in 1991, and moved to Lehman Brothers in 2001. Laurie had been at Barclays since September 2008, where he served as a director and financial advisor.

Lebenthal Grabs Advisor Team to Open New Office

Lebenthal Wealth Advisors has recruited a former Morgan Stanley Smith Barney manager and two independent advisors.

The latest recruits join Lebenthal's independent channel, and include ex-Morgan manager Clay Skurdal and independent advisors Brent Lee and Brion Norby. Lee and Norby, who founded TruWealth Financial in 2013, were previously affiliated with Voya Financial Partners, formerly ING Financial Partners.

A Lebenthal spokesman declined to say how many assets Lee and Norby managed. The recruits will open a new office for the firm in Williston, N.D.

Former New York Times CEO Joins Board of Steward Partners

Janet Robinson, former CEO of the New York Times Company, joined the board of Steward Partners, an independent firm founded by wirehouse managers and affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services.

She's the first woman to join the 8-member board of Steward Partners Holdings, the holding company for Steward Partners Global Advisory.
