BNY Mellon Wealth Management Adds 6 Senior Sales Directors

BNY Mellon Wealth Management is ramping up its business development efforts in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Philadelphia.

In New York, the firm hired two senior directors for business development. James Horvath, formerly a senior vice president at Stamford-Conn.-based Atlantic Asset Management—oversees BNY Mellon’s nonprofit wealth management practice in New York. The other hire—Michael Puleio, a small business specialist and financial advisor previously with MetLife, is responsible for developing business in the greater New York –New Jersey Tri-State region.

BNY Mellon also added three senior directors of business development to its family office services group—two in Chicago and one in San Francisco. Margaret O’Leary, a 25-year veteran of Northern Trust, joined the group in San Francisco and is responsible for the West Coast. Kelly Mullaney Dean and Thomas V. Smith, Jr., both also from Northern Trust, joined in Chicago.

BNY Mellon also added a senior director for business development to its wealth management team in Philadelphia. The new director —H. Belin Robertson—joined from Merrill Lynch, where he was a financial advisor focused on serving high-net-worth clients.

In addition, the firm hired a senior portfolio manager in Denver. Christopher A. Benson was previously a portfolio manager and senior investment consultant at Northern Trust, where he managed accounts for high-net-worth individuals and institutions.

The new hires are part of the wealth manager’s campaign to increase its sales force by 50% and add private and mortgage bankers and other professionals in key wealth markets by the end of 2014.
