Elizabeth Singer

Director, U.S. Attorneys' Fair Housing Program

Elizabeth A. Singer supervises all of the Department of Justices work under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA). Under Ms. Singers leadership, the Housing and Civil Enforcement Section has produced settlements that are expected to provide over $200 million in monetary relief for servicemembers and will ensure, through powerful injunctive relief, that the nations five largest mortgage servicers implement new procedures to prevent active duty servicemembers from being foreclosed on improperly or from being charged excessive interest rates. She also supervised the Departments $60 million case against Sallie Mae for excessive student loan charges to servicemembers, and the Departments $9 million case against Santander Consumer USA for unlawful auto repossessions against servicemembers. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1990.
