John Murphy

John Murphy joined KIPP Houston Public Schools in 2006 to serve as the Chief Financial Officer.� Since that time, KIPP Houston Public Schools has grown at a 30% rate annually. To accommodate for that growth, John has closed on several financing facilities (PSF guarantee, long-term bonds, line of credit, commercial paper, and bridge financing) in excess of $350 million and managed the growth and development of the finance team. He also serves as Chief Operating Officer for PHILO Finance Corp., a non-profit entity established to assist high-performing open enrollment schools. Prior to joining KIPP Houston Public Schools, Mr. Murphy served as the Vice President of Finance and Real Estate for a NYSE company comprised of over 70 facilities nationwide that provided residential, educational, behavioral and correctional services for governmental entities. He also worked for a local Houston real estate developer in the acquisition and finance areas. John has a BBA in Accounting and Business Analysis from Texas A&M University.�John is married with 3 daughters and is trying to figure out how to finance their futures.
