Laura McAndrew

Senior Director of Treasury Management

Ms. McAndrew is the Senior Director of Treasury Management at American University in Washington, DC. She joined the University in August 2009. As Senior Director, she oversees the University’s investment and endowment portfolio, banking and cash management functions, debt issuance, and Student Account Services. Prior to joining American University, Ms. McAndrew was the Senior Director of Treasury Operations at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina for nine years. She joined Duke in 2000, after four years at The Catholic University of America, in Washington DC. At Duke, Ms. McAndrew was responsible for the endowment-investment accounting office as well as debt management and tax reporting. During her tenure, the University issued over $1.5 billion in debt and established a $500 million commercial paper program to support its campus capital expansion.Prior to her career in higher education, Ms. McAndrew worked in the non-profit audit division of KPMG in Washington, DC where she primarily focused on higher education institutions and large non-profit clients. Ms McAndrew is active in several leadership groups within the Treasury Industry. She is a founding member of The Treasury Management Leadership Group for Higher Education and serves as a Program Committee member for The Treasury Institute for Higher Education. Ms. McAndrew received her Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Virginia Tech and her Master’s Degree in Accounting from George Mason University.
