Managing Director, Global Head, Commercial Lending Management

Richard joined the CCB global leadership team in May of 2012 as the Global Head, Commercial Lending Management (CLM), reporting to Sunil Garg.� He has strategic responsibility for all lending functions dedicated to Citi Commercial Bank, focusing on significantly upgrading the quality of the overall client experience by redesigning the overall process across credit underwriting, delivery and service functions.� As at December 2014 CLM had 712 FTE and over the past two years has overseen significant progress in core areas of responsibility, including Turn Around Time reductions of 57% and $15MM productivity improvements for both 2013 and 2014.�Prior to joining Citi Richard established and led Standard Chartered’s SME Banking Centre of Excellence in North East Asia, where he was responsible for driving commercial objectives and end-to-end responsibility for the NEA SME business.� This included the development and implementation of products, services and sales campaigns to meet income and balance sheet objectives, customer value propositions, product management and portfolio analytics and management.�In addition, he was the global business lead for advanced credit risk modelling for micro-, small- and medium-sized businesses and the Standard Chartered representative and expert advisor and speaker to the IFC, UK Government and G20 Subcommittee on SME Finance.Preceding his return to Asia, Richard was the Regional General Manager for the SME Banking businesses at Standard Chartered covering Africa and the Middle East for six years, with ancillary responsibility for the consumer treasury business in the same geography.� He started his career with Standard Chartered in 1997 after initially working for a Canadian retail bank.�Richard has managed and led businesses and projects across more than 25 countries, including 16 for SME Banking and has lived in Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.Having met with customers, front line staff and regulators across Asia, Africa and the Middle East he has acquired a well-developed sense of the needs, wants and demands of SME and MM businesses and for the structural enablers at both a business and institutional level.A Canadian and British citizen, Richard holds an MSc in International Marketing from StrathclydeUniversity and is a Chartered Marketer and Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and is a Full Member of the Chartered Management Institute.
