Advisors on the Move

Wells Fargo Advisors picked up a Morgan Stanley advisor team managing $700 million in assets. But the wirehouse wasn't the only winner in the competition for top talent. Rival firm Raymond James & Associates recruited advisors producing about $4 million in combined annual revenue. Meanwhile, RBC picked up a wirehouse team with $200 million in AUM. Mega Team Joins Wells Fargo Advisors

Wells Fargo Advisors picked up a team managing $700 million in client assets from Morgan Stanley.

The seven-member team joined Wells Fargo in Deerfield, Ill., a suburb of Chicago. They report to branch manager Heather Crist.

The team, known as the Northshore Group, consists of advisors Pat Callaghan, Alan Fishman, Bernard Neuman, Jonathan Neuman, Tom Puccinelli, Stan Slovin and Lisa Su. Also moving with the team are senior registered client associates Irene Kapusciarz and Melissa Vald.

Neuman is the veteran of the group, having started his career in 1969 with Freehling & Co., according to FINRA records. Neuman moved to Morgan Stanley in 1999. His son Jonathan joined him at the wirehouse in 2001. Fishman also started his career at the wirehouse the same year.

Callaghan started his career with Morgan in 1998, according to FINRA records. Su had been at the wirehouse since 2004.

Slovin began his career with Harold Pastron in 1987. He actually worked at Morgan twice, from 1999 to 2003 and again from 2008 until last week. In between, he was a financial advisor at UBS. Puccinelli was the last member to join Morgan, in 2008.

2 Big Producers Jump to Raymond James

Advisors with more than $2 million in combined annual revenue joined Raymond James & Associates, a spokesperson said.

Michael R. Hostick II moved to Raymond James from Oppenheimer & Co., where he generated annual revenues of about $930,000. Hostick and Michael Charles, senior investment management specialist, joined Raymond James in Austin, Texas.

Hostick had been at Oppenheimer since 2010, according to FINRA records. Previously, he worked at Southwest Securities.

The St. Petersburg, Fla.-based firm also announced the addition of a father-son team, John and Darren James, from Wells Fargo. The two advisors generated $1.25 million in annual revenues while at the wirehouse.

They joined Raymond James in Sugar Land, Texas, a suburb of Houston.

The elder James has 34 years of experience in the industry, according to FINRA records. He started at Rotan Mosle in 1981, and moved to A.G. Edwards in 1989. The younger James joined him at the firm in 2003. They stayed with A.G. Edwards through its merger with Wells Fargo.

Raymond James Grabs Advisors From UBS, J.P. Morgan and D.A. Davidson

Raymond James & Associates picked up an advisor managing $103 million from UBS, while also recruiting advisors from rivals J.P. Morgan and D.A. Davidson.

Wirehouse advisor Rob Torrington left UBS to join Raymond James in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., where he reports to branch manager Eric Bachinsky.

Torrington generated about $875,000 in annual production while at the wirehouse. He had been with UBS since 2009, according to FINRA BrokerCheck. Prior to UBS, Torrington worked at Wachovia from 2000 to 2009.

Raymond James also recruited a J.P. Morgan advisor, and a second advisor from D.A. Davidson. A spokeswoman for the St. Petersburg, Fla.-based firm declined to provide production or AUM figures for those two advisors.

Jonathan Crawley left J.P. Morgan to join Raymond James in Boston. Crawley started his advisory career at Ameriprise in 2006, according to FINRA records. He moved to J.P. Morgan in 2007.

Veteran advisor William Council moved from D.A. Davidson to Raymond James, where he joined the firm's San Diego office. Council has been in the industry for 37 years. He started with Crowell Wheedon in 1978, and stayed through that firm's merger with D.A. Davidson in 2013.

Raymond James Grabs $1M Producer From Morgan

A Morgan Stanley advisor producing $1.05 million in annual revenues has left the wirehouse for Raymond James & Associates, the firm's traditional employee broker-dealer.

While at Morgan, advisor Luigi Mazza managed more than $85 million in client assets. Mazza joined Raymond James as a senior vice president of investments in Miami where he reports to branch manager Joel Burstein.

Mazza started his career at Morgan Stanley in 1998, according to FINRA records.

$200M Wirehouse Team Joins RBC

A UBS advisor team managing about $200 million in client assets left the wirehouse to join RBC Wealth Management.

The team, known as the Winkler Group, generated about $1.3 million in annual production. They join RBC in Plano, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. They report to Greg Hornok, Plano branch director.

The team consists of advisors James Winkler and Lauren Johnson and also client associate Randi Richardson.

Winkler, who has 34 years of industry experience, had been with UBS since 1988, according to FINRA records. Johnson joined UBS in 2003.

$225M Merrill Team Joins Snowden Lane

A Merrill Lynch team managing $225 million in client assets left the wirehouse to join independent firm Snowden Lane Partners.

The team, known as the Feldman Group, opened Snowden's newest office in Pittsburgh, making it the firm's fifth office.

The group consists of Robert Feldman, a partner and managing director, and Donna Bowler, a private wealth advisor.

Feldman started his advisory career in 1993 with Advest, according to FINRA records. He stayed with Advest through that firm's acquisition by Merrill in 2006. Bowler earned her Series 7 in 2007. She had been with Merrill since 2013.

RBC Promotes Branch Manager

RBC Wealth Management promoted an advisor to branch manager.

Advisor Brewster Sears will oversee six financial advisors in the firm's office in Syracuse, N.Y. He will report to Erik Hartmann, a complex director based in Rochester, N.Y., who oversees five offices in upstate New York.

Sears started his career in 1987 with Dean Witter, according to FINRA records. He moved to Painewebber in 1988, and joined Janney Montgomery Scott in 1996. Sears has been with RBC since 2004.

Wells Fargo Names New Regional Manager

Wells Fargo Advisors has promoted Seth Barnes, a complex manager, to market manager for northeast Ohio. Barnes will oversee 10 branch offices in the Buckeye state from the firm's downtown Cleveland office.

Barnes was previously a complex manager in Tulsa, Okla. He has 23 years of experience in the industry, according to FINRA records. Barnes started his career at Merrill Lynch, leaving that firm for Morgan Stanley in 2006. He joined Wells Fargo in 2008.

Stifel Nabs Wirehouse Team With $225M in AUM

A Wells Fargo team managing more than $225 million in client assets moved to Stifel Nicolaus.

Advisors Timothy Metcalf and Robert Pinto joined Stifel in Newport Beach, Calif., where they now operate as Metcalf Wealth Management Group.

Metcalf started his career in 1983 at Dean Witter, according to FINRA records. He joined A.G. Edwards in 1990 and stayed through that firm's acquisition by Wachovia, and later its eventual acquisition by Wells Fargo.

Pinto began his advisory career at Merrill Lynch in 1985. He moved to A.G. Edwards 10 years later.

First Republic Grabs $250M Team From Barclays

Two advisors managing $250 million in assets left Barclays for First Republic Bank.

Hugh Beecher and Rick Gordon joined the regional bank as managing directors and portfolio managers in San Francisco.

Beecher started his career in 1995 with Goldman Sachs, according to FINRA records. He later joined Credit Suisse in 2010, and left that firm for Barclays in 2012. Earlier in his career, he also founded Beecher Investment Management.

Gordon had worked for Barclays since 2008. Prior to that, he worked at Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers, according to First Republic.

Advisors With Combined $330M AUM Join Waddell & Reed

Waddell & Reed said it had added eight financial advisors who managed over $330 million in combined assets prior to joining the firm.

Frank Lasko and Chad Winn, formerly of Wells Fargo Advisors, joined Waddell in Scottsdale, Ariz. Lasko managed $39 million in assets at the wirehouse; Winn managed $47 million in assets.

Linda Klugman also moved from Wells Fargo to Waddell. Klugman managed $25 million dollars in assets and has over 19 years of experience in the security industry, according to FINRA records.

Carolyn Wyatt signed on with Waddell in Costa Mesa, Calif. She joins the firm from D.A. Davidson where she managed $48 million in assets. She has 14 years of experience.

Former Merrill Lynch advisor Heather Roentz signed on with Waddell in Denver. Roentz managed $47 million dollars at the wirehouse. She has 9 years of experience in the securities industry.

Chris Barmann, who managed $45.5 million at Wells Fargo, joined Waddell in Independence, Mo.

Michael Murphy, a St. Louis-based advisor and 26-year industry veteran, also left the Wells Fargo to join Waddell.

Robert Tremlett signed on with the firm in Waukesha, Wis., after leaving Charles Schwab. Tremlett has 12 years of industry experience. He managed $60 million in assets at Schwab.
