Sharon Oberlander is a Managing Director-Investments and Wealth Management Advisor of The Oberlander Group with Merrill Lynch in Chicago. Her areas of expertise include retirement planning, asset management and investments and wealth transfer.\nSharon has more than 30 years of extensive experience in the field of Banking and Wealth Management for high-net-worth clients. She served three years on Merrill Lynch's Advisory Council to Management and served on the Merrill Lynch Trust Company Non-Profit Council in 2008.\nShe has earned several prestigious professional distinctions, including Barron’s America’s Top 100 Brokers 2003 through 2005, Barron's Top 100 Women Financial Advisors 2006 through 2010, Barron's Top 1,000 Advisers 2009 and 2010, Registered Rep annual Outstanding Broker Award 2006, and Chicago Magazine’s Top 50 Financial Advisors in 2008.\nIn addition to these honors, she serves as a media spokesperson for Merrill Lynch and has appeared in numerous outlets including Barron’s, Chicago Tribune, CLTV, Chicago Magazine, Pioneer Press community newspapers, Today’s Chicago Woman and NorthShore magazine, discussing tips and trends in personal finance.\nSharon also plays an active role in the Chicago community through her involvement in The Executive’s Club of Chicago Women’s Leadership co-chair, the University of Chicago Medical Research Board, and several cultural and arts organizations.\nA graduate of the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada, Sharon and her husband reside in Northbrook, Ill., and have two adult children.

She was a media representative for American Express Financial Advisors appearing as an expert on Good morning America, PBS, CNBC, and many radio talk shows. She was also invited to the White House by the Clinton administration in recognition of work that she had done with the Women’s Bureau in regards to Women and financial planning. While in private practice in Washington DC she was also given the President’s Recognition Award from American Express Financial Advisors for quality of advice.\nIn 1999 she left private practice to move to Dallas as the Vice President for American Express Financial Advisors. She was there for two years.\nIn 2002 she was asked to return home to Southern California as the VP for Ameriprise, coaching\/ leading over 350 advisors. \nAfter over 10 years, training and leading 1000+ advisors in DC, Dallas, and California she returned to private practice to be closer to home and her growing family.\nShannon is now an independent Certified Financial Advisor running a private practice; Ryan and Associates in Hermosa Beach. She is thrilled to be back working directly with families, businesses and non-profit organizations.\nShannon has been married to Chris Ryan for 21 years and has two girls Lauren (7) and Taylor (5). Sharon Liebowitz is the co-founder and CEO of Meritam, the pioneer in high performance, low cost investment strategies designed specifically for nonprofit reserves and endowments. The platform brings FinTech to the nonprofit sector to give organizations a fair deal, avoiding conflicts of interest and allowing nonprofits more time and money for their missions. Prior to Meritam, Sharon was at JPMorgan Chase for 10 years, where she built trading systems, and other global banks, including UBS and Deutsche Bank. Sharon earned an BA with honors from Harvard University, and a MArch from Columbia University. She’s a committed volunteer and currently serves on the board of directors of the Center for Architecture, the Columbia University Alumni Association, and is a Columbia University Senator. \n

Shannon is the President of Beacon Pointe Advisors and a member of Beacon Pointes Investment Committee.Prior to launching Beacon Pointe, Shannon served as Senior Managing Director and Portfolio Manager atRoxbury Capital Management LLC. She was in charge of socially responsible investments for several years atRoxbury.\nIn addition to serving as president of Beacon Point Advisors, Shannon is also a founding member of and serveson the Board of the Beacon Pointe Womens Advisory Initiative.
