Beena Thomas is a recognized innovator and thought leader in the area of population health. She brings her commitment to promoting a healthy corporate culture to her work as a vice president for health and wellness at Optum.\nBeena’s specialty areas include developing a culture of health and enhancing Optum’s wellness product portfolio to meet the evolving needs of clients and the market. Her expertise in market intelligence and competitive analysis serves the company when consulting national accounts and creating go-to-market wellness solutions.\nThroughout her career, Beena has been on the forefront of the wellness industry. Prior to joining Optum, she held various roles in the health care technology and managed care sectors. She spent 10 years at WellPoint\/Anthem in sales, human resources and product strategy leadership roles. As WellPoint’s first wellness director, she led a national total health management strategy for 42,000 employees across the United States and initiated a national women’s health strategy.\nBeena holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Georgia State University and a Master of Public Health from East Tennessee State University. She completed the American Health Insurance Plans’ Executive Leadership Program (ELP) and also obtained an ELP certificate from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.\nBeena serves on the National Business Group on Health Board’s Institute on the Costs and Health Effects of Obesity and the Corporate Health and Wellness Association. She is also a member of the Health Enhancement Research Organization’s Think Tank.

Prior to joining TD Economics, she worked nearly four years on a trading floor providing economic analysis to foreign exchange, money market and bond desks.\n Beata is the Vice President and Deputy Chief Economist (U.S. and International) for TD Bank. In her current role, Beata heads a team of economists and travels across North America speaking on economic and financial trends for the U.S., regional and international economies. She is frequently quoted by the media and writes reports on a wide array of subjects, including U.S. and state developments in labor markets, housing markets, commercial real estate, monetary policy and inflation.\n Beata sits on a number of committee’s within TD Bank, including the Choice@work Committee and the Women in Leadership Committee for corporate operations.\n
