American Express Will Sell Funds to Cardholders in Japan

American Express Financial Advisors Japan, based in Tokyo, plans to sell four mutual fund products to its credit card holders in Japan. These are: American Express Global Equity Fund, Fidelity Japan Growth Fund, Goldman Sachs Mona Lisa Global Bond Fund and Chukoku Fund of Nikko Asset Management.

Through July, for every 100,000 yen an investor places in one of these funds, American Express will reward them with 2,000 American Express Membership Plus bonus points, redeemable for airfare on seven international airlines. After this introductory promotion ends, American Express will continue to reward investors with one bonus point for every 20,000 yen added to their accounts.

American Express is initially distributing the four funds only to its cardholders, but intends to make the funds available to additional customers at a later date.
