Baker, Oxley to Introduce Bill To Strengthen SEC Enforcement Power

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Michael Oxley (R-OH) and Richard Baker (R-LA), chairman of the capital markets subcommittee, will introduce a bill on Wednesday that would strengthen the Securities and Exchange Commission’s enforcement power.

The bill would also increase the SEC’s ability to return funds to defrauded investors. The proposal would also boost the SEC’s ability to go after securities violators and make sure investors are given adequate opportunity to recover losses resulting from cases of fraud.
