Hill Joins Dreyfus to Head Southern Sales Division

Penny Hill has joined Dreyfus as regional director of its southern sales division, overseeing a team of external wholesalers covering Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and the southern portion of Virginia.

"As Mellon tops $1 trillion in assets under management and Dreyfus evolves as a best-in-class intermediary distribution company, we are delighted to welcome to our sales force a person with such industry stature," said Jon Baum, vice president of distribution for Dreyfus.

Hill, who has more than 20 years of experience, was previously with Evergreen Investments for six years, starting out as a regional vice president and wholesaler for Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. She was then promoted to vice president and East divisional sales manager. Before that, she was a regional vice president and top producer at AAL Capital Management and a financial adviser at Merrill Lynch and Shearson Lehman/Smith Barney.

Evergreen Realty Appoints Schaub to New Position, Soemantoro as Director

Evergreen Realty Group has appointed Gerald "Jerry" D. Schaub regional marketing director, Midwest, a new position at the firm.

"The number of regional securities firms that we service and the number of real estate investment products we are offering in 2007 demand that we restructure our staff and add more experienced personnel," said Luke V. McCarthy, president of Evergreen Realty.

For the past 23 years, Schaub has been a vice president or national sales manager at Putnam Investments, SunAmerica Capital Services, Dreyfus, Bear Stearns and Federated Investors. He was also the co-owner of a regional securities firm for two years in the early 1980s, acting as a dealer/manager for customer accounts.

Woody Soemantoro has also joined Evergreen Realty as a regional marketing director, his territory being Southern California.

Soemantoro was previously with Well Real Estate Funds as a regional assistant vice president for Southern California.

American Century Names On SVP, International CIO

American Century has hired Mark On as senior vice president and chief investment officer, international equity. American Century's international equity discipline consists of international growth, global growth, international small-mid cap, international small-cap and emerging markets. On will also serve as co-portfolio manager on the emerging markets strategy.

On was previously with AXA Rosenberg as Asia Pacific CIO and managing director. Before that, he was a senior associate programmer at IBM.

Guerin Becomes CCO At Evergreen Investments

Evergreen Investments has hired Robert J. Guerin as chief compliance officer of the Evergreen Funds. He succeeds James Angelos, who will be retiring on June 30 after spending more than 10 years with the firm.

Guerin most recently was with Babson Capital Management as senior compliance officer. Before that, he was director of compliance and risk management with State Street Global Advisors and manager of sales practice compliance at Deutsche Asset Management.
