KeyCorp has hired a former JPMorgan Chase executive to lead its wealth management unit.
Joe Skarda, who joined the Cleveland-based company this week, will oversee KeyBank Wealth Management. That unit houses the firm’s private bank, family wealth and mass affluent business segments. He replaces Terry Jenkins, who retired as the unit’s president in March.
Skarda is based in Chicago and reports to Victor Alexander, head of Key’s consumer bank.
He joined JPMorgan Securities in 2002 and became managing director of its U.S. wealth management central division in 2018, according to his LinkedIn profile. In his new role, Skarda will lead wealth management employees across KeyCorp’s 15-state footprint.
Skarda is “a seasoned leader and the ideal person” to manage KeyCorp’s wealth management strategy, Alexander said in a press release. The business unit serves individuals, families, business owners and institutions with a range of investable assets, from $100,000 to more than $10 million, and provides trust and investment management, institutional trust and banking services.
