Putnam Investments is continuing its push towards online social media with the launch of an online Roth IRA Conversion Evaluator and accompanying blog, designed to help investors learn more about the benefits of Roth IRAs.
The Roth evaluator "is a great first step for investors and their financial advisors," said William Cass, senior vice president of Putnam Retail Management. "Our purpose is to try to stimulate a dialog and conversation. Investors would be well served to at least consider the benefits of a Roth IRA."
After investors enter their age, current investments, their tax situation and legacy wishes into the online program, the Roth IRA Conversion Evaluator displays their personalized results in a broad spectrum that tells investors how strongly they should consider such a conversion.
Putnam's new Roth IRA blog offers information about Roth conversions as well as other retirement and estate planning issues and includes expert commentary by scholars, investment experts and accountants.
"Clients may decide that a Roth conversion just isn't for them, but it is part of a discussion," Cass said. "Having a conversation is a starting point that can lead to broader discussions, such as conversations about legacy planning and wealth transfers.
