Snappy Kraken's Greg Drozdow wants to see advisors get real with clients via text

Financial Planning's Justin L. Mack and Greg Drozdow, the director of business development for Convos, Snappy Kraken's text messaging program, chat at Future Proof 2022.

Is the looming threat of winter's coldest stretch getting you down? Do you seek an escape from the harsh, frigid conditions on Wall Street?

Then allow Financial Planning to transport you back to the dog days of summer and directly into the heart of Surf City.

Our special look back at the Future Proof Festival continues through a series of interviews with insiders and newsmakers conducted by the Financial Planning editorial team.

In this clip, Wealthtech Reporter Justin L. Mack catches up with Greg Drozdow, director of business development for Convos, Snappy Kraken's text messaging program that helps financial advisors build deeper relationships with prospects and clients. He is also the CEO of Drozdow Financial, a financial education and services group.

At Future Proof 2022, Drozdow was excited to help advisors understand the power of Convos and text message marketing. He said compared to traditional email marketing, which has an open rate of about 25%, texting hits the high 90s with ease.

And while sharing your firm's quality content via email and social media remains a must, leveraging what has become the most commonly used communication channel in the game can take your practice to a new level.

But beyond having convos about Convos, Drozdow was ready for more realness to be injected into wealth management. But taking client and prospect interactions out of stuffy boardrooms and into the palm of your hand, Drozdow believes there is potential to reshape the industry for the better.

"That is the entire theme of why we decided to expand our offerings for our advisors, so they can build deep relationships with their prospects and clients. Meaningful connections. Really strong conversations," he said. "Everybody uses a cellphone, right? We all use our cellphones to maybe send a funny, engaging message to a friend, coordinate plans with loved ones, schedule dinners, maybe schedule your dentist or doctor's appointments. So if you could do that in other areas of life, why are financial advisors not communicating in the same manner with their prospects and clients?"
