Karleen Strayer is managing director and Sector Manager for the Enterprise Sector of National Public Finance Guarantee Corporation. Her responsibilities within this line of business include originations for the healthcare, higher education, housing and non-profit sectors. Prior to National, Ms. Strayer was a managing director and Head of Global Enterprise within the Public Finance Division at MBIA Insurance Corporation. A highly respected leader in the industry with over 20 years of public finance experience, she played a key role in expanding MBIA's footprint in global enterprise increasing credit enhancements to $12.2 billion in 2007 from just $6.2 billion in 2004. Ms. Strayer began her career at MBIA in 1992 in the Insured Portfolio Management Division where she was responsible for surveillance of a $40+ billion portfolio and related remedial activity.Prior to joining MBIA, Ms. Strayer served as a vice president in the Public Banking Department at The First National Bank of Chicago, providing credit enhancement and other financial products and services to hospitals, universities and cultural institutions.Ms. Strayer received an MBA in Finance from the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Nebraska Wesleyan University.
