Dr. Mary A. Weiss is Deaver Professor of Risk, Insurance and Healthcare Management at the Temple University and a Past President of the premier insurance academic organization in the U.S., the American Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA). She is Editor of Risk Management and Insurance Review and an Associate Editor for the Journal of Risk and Insurance. Her research, consisting of more than 30 articles, has focused on financial services conglomeration, efficiency measurement of insurers, no-fault automobile insurance, reinsurance, regulation, and underwriting cycles.Her research has appeared in the Journal of Law and Economics, Journal of Business, Management Science, The Journal of Financial Intermediation, The Journal of Risk and Insurance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance Theory and Contingencies. Her articles have received awards from The Journal of Risk and Insurance, the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and The Journal of Financial Intermediation.Dr. Weiss has made numerous research presentations at the Annual Meeting of the American Risk and Insurance Association. Her research also has been presented at the National Bureau of Economic Research, the Brookings Institution, the Casualty Actuarial Society, Risk Theory Society, the Financial Management Association, the Western Economic Association, the Competitive Enterprise Institute, the Atlantic Economic Society, the Allied Social Sciences Association, and at conferences sponsored by the Federal Reserve Banks of Atlanta and New York.She obtained her PhD at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and has been on the faculty of Temple University since 1986. She was a Visiting Scholar at the Wharton School (2004-2006) and was selected as 2004 Distinguished Huebner Alumnus, Huebner Foundation, Wharton School. Her biography also appears in Whos Who in America 2007. She served as a Distinguished Scholar at the NAICs Center for Insurance Policy & Research, a think tank, in 2009-2010.

Professor Quist-Newins has the distinction of holding the State Farm Chair in Women & Financial Services at The American College - the first and only endowed academic chair in the country devoted exclusively to the study of women and financial services issues. In this role, she works to increase The College's understanding of women's financially related expectations, attitudes, and actions.During her twenty-year career in financial services, Ms. Quist-Newins has achieved success as both a field producer and a corporate leader. Treasury & Risk recognized her significant contributions to the financial services industry by naming her to the magazine's elite list of "25 Outstanding Leaders in Finance Who Happen to be Women" in November 2008. In 2010, Quist-Newins authored the comprehensive academic textbook, Women and Money, Matters of Trust.Prior to joining The College, Professor Quist-Newins was a Senior Financial Consultant and Regional Management Associate with Thrivent Financial. In this role, she was responsible for recruiting and training new associates, as well as a client base of over 2,400 households and more than $75 million in assets under management. While at Thrivent, she consistently performed among the top ranks of producers and qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table every year.Professor Quist-Newins' industry background also includes positions as a Region Vice President with the ING Advisors Network and Director of Field and Distribution Channel Marketing at American Express. At both ING and American Express, she counseled field leaders and financial associates in representative recruiting, client acquisition and retention, and operational best practices.In addition to holding a master's in Business Administration from the Garvin School of International Management, she has earned the Certified Financial Planner®, Chartered Life Underwriter®, and Chartered Financial Consultant® advanced designations. Ms. Quist-Newins received her BA from the University of Washington.Ms. Quist-Newins lives in Frederick, MD, with her husband and two children. She is active in numerous charities, including Habitat for Humanity, Lutheran World Relief, and Lutheran Social Services.

September "Temie" Seibert began her career in the insurance industry in 1974. She has held numerous marketing positions, beginning with Marketing Executive for Group Health Cooperative, a Seattle-based consumer-governed health care system with over 500,000 members. She then became Supervisor of Health and Welfare Plans for PACCAR, Inc., a multinational technology company that manufactures heavy-duty trucks under the Kenworth and Peterbilt nameplates.In 1989, she expanded her marketing and management experience into property and casualty insurance. For 11 years, she held the position of Executive Director of Associated Risk Managers (ARM) of the Northwest, a marketing association that comprised independent insurance agencies throughout Washington and Idaho. In 2000, she became Executive Director of IMCA and oversees operations with a primary focus on communications, marketing and the strategic planning process.Temie is actively involved in the American Society of Association Executives and has obtained her Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation. In 2002, she was listed in the First Annual "100 Most Powerful People in the Insurance Industry - North America," by the Insurance-Letter, an online news service serving the insurance industry.

Ms. ODea is Executive Vice President and Chief Claims Officer for AXIS Reinsurance. Ms. ODea joined AXIS Re in June of 2011 after 10 years as Director of Claims for PartnerRe where she was responsible for building out the U.S. claims team to support the companys property and casualty reinsurance business. Prior to PartnerRe, Ms. ODea was Vice President and Claims Counsel with XL Re. She has over 25 years of reinsurance, insurance and law experience having worked in private practice representing insurance companies and later in house in the primary industry and later in reinsurance. Ms. ODea has been working exclusively in the reinsurance industry for the last 15 years.As Chief Claims Officer for AXIS Re, Ms. ODea is responsible worldwide for the management of the AXIS Re claims department with operations in the U.S., Bermuda and Zurich.Ms. ODea earned her B.A. from the University of Vermont and her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut. She is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriters Society (PLUS), the International Association of Claims Professionals (IACP), the Claims Committee of the Reinsurance Association of America (RAA), and currently serves as President of the Association of Professional Insurance Women (APIW).

Randi is a partner at Butler Rubin and focuses her practice on reinsurance matters including finite reinsurance, insurance insolvency and surety bonds. Her work typically involves multi-million dollar disputes in all aspects of reinsurance work, from pre-demand investigation through confirmation of arbitration awards in the courts. Louise Canter has more than thirty-five years of experience in the insurance industry as a Commercial Property & Casualty producer. She has been with USI, formerly Patterson//Smith Associates, for over thirty years. Louise was a principal with Patterson//Smith Associates, on their Board of Directors, and a member of their Management Committee. Over the years, she has developed a large commercial book of accounts primarily in the areas of property management, non-profit associations, high tech firms, and social service agencies. Her expertise includes Directors & Officers, Errors & Omissions, and Cyber Liability policies, as well as Professional Liability for complex accounts. In 2003-04, Canter served as national President of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America. This culminated more than 25 years of volunteer work within the association, on a local, state, and national level. She has chaired the Southern Agents Conference, the Southern Agents International Conference in Athens, Greece, and served as President, then as State National Director, for the Metropolitan Washington Association of Independent Insurance Agents. She has been awarded the Metropolitan Washingtons Agent of the Year Award and received a Presidential Citation from the Insurance Agents & Brokers of America. In addition, she has served on the board of the DC Chapter of CPCU. She currently serves as Secretary of the Metropolitan Washington Service Corporation and is also a member of the Finance/Fundraising Committee for the DC Chapter of CPCU 2012 Convention Committee. Canter holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and Associate in Risk Management degrees. She is a graduate of Fordham University, Bronx, NY with a B.A. in History. She is a life-long resident of Bethesda, Maryland, where she resides with her husband, Bob. They have two grown sons, Christopher and Matthew. Her hobbies include renovating old houses, golf, and travel.

Kellee Irwin is the VP of Personal Insurance at ICBC a Crown corporation in British Columbia that provides mandatory basic insurance and optional additional insurance to all drivers in BC. Her division creates the rates that BC drivers pay for both and the products that deliver them. She recently celebrated her 5th anniversary with ICBC, after starting in 2006 as the first VP of Underwriting. In her current role, she leads ICBC in redefining their pricing and product strategy by moving to a more driver-based model vs. vehicle-based. She also leads Vehicle Registration and Licensing on behalf of the province. Irwin gained her knowledge and experience through progressively senior roles in different insurance companies. She has been an avid motorcyclist since she was five years old, growing up in her dads family motorcycle shop. An active volunteer, Irwin is the President of the Canadian Heritage Motorcycle Museum Foundation and a board member of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) and the BC chapter of the Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC BC). This past winter, Irwin became a Mountain Safety ski volunteer at Whistler Blackcomb patrolling, and enjoying, the slopes every Saturday!

Paige Beck, CPA, became Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in August 2007. In this position, Ms. Beck oversees all financial activities for the organization including preparing financial reports, summaries and forecasts for business growth, and tracks the general economic outlook for Maryland business as it relates to IWIF. She also provides strategic leadership to help ensure the continued financial strength of the organization. During her 17-year tenure with the Towson-based insurer, Ms. Beck has served as head of IWIFs Internal Audit department and as Assistant Vice President of Finance. Prior to joining IWIF, she was employed with the Office of Legislative Audits.She is a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants and a graduate of Towson University, where she earned a bachelors degree in accounting.
