Kurt is a senior executive with over 20 years of experience in leveraging technology and data to measurably improve business performance and manage risk. He helps financial services companies develop actionable insights from data through data mining, machine learning and predictive modeling as well building the supporting data infrastructures.Kurt also works with companies to develop their business analytics strategies, capabilities and organizational structure to achieve business performance objectives. He has extensive experience designing, developing and deploying robust and cost-effective data architecture that facilitate business insight and action.

Darrel Barbato is the Head of Predictive Analytics for Homesite Insurance in Boston. With his 8 years of insurance modeling experience, he has worked in a variety of roles including as a Manger of Claims Analytics with Liberty Mutual and as a Director of Research overseeing modeling for The Hartford’s Commercial Property, Workers Compensation, and General Liability lines of business.He joined Homesite in 2013 and is responsible for modeling projects in support of a wide range of departments there including Underwriting, Pricing, Operations, and Claims. Recently his team developed new multivariate models to allow for lower declination rates for new Homeowners business as well as Homesite’s initial By-Peril Rating Plan.Darrel holds a Doctoral and Master’s Degrees in Economics from Boston College where his research focused on industrial organization and applied econometrics. He is also a graduate of the University of Richmond where he studied Economics and Computer Science. He is the co-author of two telematics patents, “System and Method for Computing and Scoring Trip Similarities Using Geo-Spatial Information” and “System and Method for Computing and Scoring the Complexity of a Vehicle Trip Using Geo-Spatial Information”.

Tim Callahan is chief information security officer for Aflac. He is responsible for the Technology Risk Management and Information Security Program, which includes Threat and Vulnerability Management, Cybersecurity Operations and Incident Response, Information Technology Compliance and Risk Management, Security Engineering, Technology Resiliency and Disaster Recovery.Prior to joining Aflac in 2014, Tim was senior vice president, business continuity and information assurance, at SunTrust Bank. Previously, he was the first vice president, technology risk management, and chief information security officer at Peoples United Bank. He also served on the State of Connecticut Judicial Committee on Identity Theft.�A 23-year career military professional, Tim was the program manager for a command risk management function at one of the U.S. Air Forces Major Command Headquarters in his final assignment.He holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of the State of New York.

David serves as the worldwide director and product leader of Information Risk Insurance for CNA.� He is responsible for network security and privacy issues, underwriting guidelines, and engagement with CNA actuarial in the pricing of the CNA cyber product portfolio.David has more than 15 years of experience in technology, cyber and information risk insurance. Prior to joining CNA in 2008, David held management positions at Risk Placement Services, Zurich North America, Near North National Group and Aon.He received a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree from the University of Iowa.�

Michael Merwarth is Senior Vice President of Strategy & Innovation at USAA. In this role, he is responsible for setting and managing the strategic direction of USAA’s $16B P&C insurance group, which includes overseeing the company’s innovation and product/technology development programs.With over 22 years of property casualty experience, Michael held several USAA executive leadership positions prior to his appointment as Chief Underwriter in 2011. He has executive leadership experience in both P&C and Enterprise roles ranging from underwriting, product management, strategy, and business transformation.Michael currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and is active in several industry groups including the Institute for Business and Home Safety, the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, the BuildStrong Coalition, and the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters. �He also routinely serves in the local community, including recent service as a board member of The San Antonio Children’s Shelter. He received his BA-Business Management degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. Michael is married with three children.
