Dow Wraps Up Worst Week of the Year With More Losses

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped another 34.44 points to finish at 12,820.60 Friday, its worst one-week performance of the year.

The Nasdaq managed to squeak out a tiny gain of 0.18 points to end at 2,933.82 while the S&P 500 shed 4.60 points to close at 1,353.39.

Needless to say, investors are hopeful that Facebook’s much-anticipated IPO will recharge investors’ enthusiasm next week.

On the economic front, the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment rating for May improved to 77.8, its highest score since 2008 and up from a 76.4 rating in April. Economists were expecting a slight dip in confidence to 76.2, according a Reuters survey.
