Hilliard Lyons Adds Two from UBS

As the competition for top advisor talent remains strong, Hilliard Lyons added two advisors from UBS less than a week after UBS announced it had nabbed a Hilliard Lyons advisor with $475 million in assets.

Hilliard Lyons scooped up industry veterans Kevin Lyall and David Havens in Winston-Salem, N.C., as the firm tops off recent growth in the area. They join an office opened last June with three advisors from RBC Wealth Management. Lyall will serve as the resident branch manager for the office.

Lyall and Havens previously oversaw $55 million and $21 million, respectively. Lyall has 16 years of experience and joined UBS in 2001 after four years at Merrill Lynch, according to records with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

Havens had been at UBS since 2007 and started his career at Scott & Stringfellow in 1997, according to FINRA records.

The two will report to Sam Hershberger who will continue to manage the Winston-Salem branch as well as the firm’s Henderson, N.C.; Charlotte, N.C.; and Greenville, S.C. branch.

Hilliard Lyons, which is based in Louisville, Ky., has around 400 advisors  spread across 70 offices.
