Janney has expanded its operations in Washington, D.C. with a two-man team overseeing $142 million in assets.
The firm tapped two former Morgan Stanley advisors, Robert Benson and his partner Michael Slaymaker, to help expand its presence in the area. They will operate as the Old Dominion Group along with their client assistant Elizabeth Miller.
With more than 50 years of combined industry experience, Robert and Michael have built a strong, client-centric practice, which will be instrumental as we continue to look for growth opportunities in the DC-metro area, the president of Janneys private client group, Jerry Lombard, said in a statement. While Janney already has a well-established presence in this area, weve remained focused on expanding strategically within our existing footprint to provide our clients superior service in convenient locations.
Benson, who joins as first vice president/wealth management, has 28 years of experience, according to registration records with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. He began his career at Legg Mason before moving to Citigroup and then most recently Morgan Stanley.
Slaymaker joins as vice president/wealth management and began his career at Legg Mason in 2005. He then moved to Citigroup and finally Morgan Stanley before joining Janney.
