JHS Capital Expands Into Louisiana

Fast-growing JHS Capital Advisors has opened a new office in Baton Rouge, La. -- the company’s first in that state.

Former Morgan Stanley advisor Emily Domingue, a specialist in providing 401(k) plan guidance for small and midsize companies and assistance with 529 education savings plans, will head the office.

Earlier this month, the 3-year old Tampa, Fla.-based broker-dealer and RIA opened a new office in Sebring, Fla., headed by Merrill Lynch veteran Kelly Connelly.

JHS has more than doubled the number of offices around the country in the past year, going to 70 from 30  after the acquisition of Paulson Investment Co. in Portland, Ore. Meanwhile, the number of the firm’s advisors and broker-dealers climbed to 160 this year from 82 in 2011. Client assets the firm oversees have also jumped, rising to $3.3 billion at the end of 2012 from $2.1 billion a year earlier.

Before entering the financial services industry eight years ago, Domingue founded Business Solutions by Cote, providing a number of early-stage financial and operational services to entrepreneurs launching their own companies.

JHS’ new Louisiana office “is part of JHS’s strategic expansion, which involves opening branch locations and adding advisors who share our client-focused mindset throughout the country,” said Eileen M. Canady, the firm’s vice president of strategic development, in a statement.
