Nomura Hires Head of U.S. Equity Research

Nomura Securities International hired Michael Rietbrock this week as head of U.S. equity research. Rietbrock is responsible for building the Japanese firm's fundamental research offering in the Americas, where Nomura is eager to expand.

“We are very excited to have Michael as head of U.S. equity research and as a core senior member of Nomura's global research,” Hideyuki Takahashi, head of global research at Nomura, said in a press release. “I am very confident that he will create the best research team in the U.S., thereby enhancing the appeal of Nomura's global research to clients all over the world.”

Rietbrock joined from Bank of America Merrill Lynch [BAC], where he was director of U.S. equity research and also managed the integration with Merrill Lynch’s research group. He was hired by B of A in 2008.

Previously, Rietbrock managed a portfolio of global real estate and travel-related securities at Caxton Associates from 2006-2008. Before joining Caxton, he covered the lodging and gaming sector at Citigroup/Salomon Smith Barney [C] for 12 years.
