Pair of Former MSSB Advisors Launch Independent Advisory Firm

Dynasty Financial Partners announced Monday that a pair of former Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Advisors have launched bluepoint Investment Counsel.

Michael Hull and Patrick Hull created bluepoint after leaving Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, where they had been institutional consulting directors of Graystone Consulting.  Having consulted for over two decades, the Hulls provide assistance in the areas of investment policy, portfolio design, investment selection and performance monitoring. They have experience providing fiduciary guidance to public pensions, universities, fraternal organizations, healthcare organizations, retirement plans, non-profit entities and endowment funds.

“Patrick and I are excited to be launching bluepoint.  The ability to comprehensively address the needs of our clients without external conflict or pressure is in the best interest of both our institutional and ultra high net worth clients. We have built an exceptional business over the past 20 years.  Creating bluepoint sets us above and beyond what we have been able to do in the past, and is the best plan for our clients now,” said Michael Hull.

Based in Madison, Wis., bluepoint will provide financial advice to higher education institutions, non-profits and ultra-high-net worth individuals.

“The Hull brothers have a strong track record working with the nation's largest families, foundations and endowments.  They are now well positioned to broaden their business by hiring additional advisors and expanding their footprint. At Dynasty, we are delighted to be partnering with bluepoint,” said Shirl Penney, President and CEO of Dynasty.

Joining Michael and Patrick are Ariana Neuner and Kent Costello, who had both been financial advisors with Grayston. Lauren Kelly, bluepoint’s chief financial officer, and Natasha Augustine, a senior investment analyst, are also joining bluepoint from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

Bluepoint is the fourteenth independent advisory firm to join Dynasty's wealth management platform. Bluepoint will leverage Dynasty's capabilities, including technology, managed investments, institutional research, trust and insurance services and credit facilities.
