U.S. Bank has snagged a 29-year veteran of JP Morgan Chase to serve as chief private banking officer of the bank’s wealth management division. David Mook will lead U.S. Bank’s private banking services, focusing on the needs of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients and family-owned businesses, the bank announced this week.

As chief private banking officer, Mook will also lead sales management for private banking products and services, including deposit, mortgage and other credit products.

At JP Morgan Chase, Mook held many leadership roles, most recently serving as regional capital advisory practice lead of Private Banking for the Midwest, West and California. Before that, Mook served as the private bank’s capital advisor for Private Wealth Management. He also served as a senior underwriter for Middle Market Banking and a regional manager for Institutional Investment Services, according to U.S. Bank.

“David comes to us with outstanding credentials and decades of banking experience,” Mark Jordahl, president of U.S. Bank Wealth Management, said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that he has joined U.S. Bank.”

The new hire is the latest development in the bank’s ongoing expansion of the wealth management business. The bank has been on hiring spree since 2008, recruiting talent from rival firms to lead various units of the wealth business in different regions.

Minneapolis-based U.S. Bank is a subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp, a bank holding company with $354 billion in assets.
