Video Star: 361 Capital Teams with Morningstar on Alternatives

SAN FRANCISCO -- Hoping to lure financial professionals eager to learn more about alternative investments, a fund manager has teamed with Morningstar to host a series of informational videos online.

Denver-based 361 Capital CEO Tom Florence said at the Schwab Impact conference in San Francisco that his firm has licensed 11 videos than run seven to 10 minutes each. The videos, which debuted this week, will be available exclusively on 361 Capital's website for about a year.

"Advisors see the need for alternatives, but need to understand how to use them," Florence said. "The whole challenge at the advisor and I think even at the broker level is education. There's going to be a lot more product coming out. [Most] everything is still in the hedge fund structure, so advisors are still learning," Florence added.

The firm manages the Absolute Alpha Fund and has two other funds in registration: a managed futures fund and a long-short equity fund.
