Perry Boyle, a longtime leader at Steve Cohen’s Point72 Asset Management and its forerunner, is retiring at the end of March.

Boyle has held a variety of roles during his 15-year career with billionaire Cohen. He was director of research and head of equities at Cohen’s hedge fund SAC Capital Advisors until 2014, when the firm converted to the Point72 family office after pleading guilty to securities fraud.

While at Point72, Boyle continued to oversee equities as well as discretionary investing. He then joined Stamford Harbor Capital, an advisory firm Cohen set up in 2016 to explore raising outside money once again. That firm merged with Point72 in 2018, and Boyle returned as a senior director. He played a prominent role in investor relations as the firm grew to $16 billion in assets by reopening to clients.

After retiring, Boyle, 56, will shift his focus toward public service, according to a person with knowledge of the matter, who asked not to be identified because the plans are private. Boyle wants to work on poverty eradication, and since 2019 he has been chairman of the BOMA Project, a non-profit that works to empower women in Northern Kenya, the person said.

A spokeswoman for Stamford, Connecticut-based Point72 confirmed Boyle’s plans to retire. — Additional reporting by Saijel Kishan
