We took a new look at this year's top advisers and re-ranked them based solely on their year-over-year percentage increase in production. For the original list, this was one of six metrics we used to determine the ranking. The other five were: assets under management; trailing-12 production; % change in AUM from previous year; amount of fee-based business; and ratio of production-per-AUM.

A well-rounded approach wins the day with the annual advisor ranking. No one-trick ponies allowed, as multiple metrics count toward advisors' scores, including AUM, production, growth and fee business.
