State Street Research & Management Co. has hired Edward Dowd as a VP and portfolio manager for its large-cap growth team, reporting to Jeff Lindsey, the firm's managing director in charge of the mid- and large-cap growth team. Before joining State Street Research, Dowd worked as an equity analyst for Independence Investment LLC. There, he was responsible for generating investment recommendations within the technology sector. Before that, he was an equity research associate for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, where he covered electric utilities.
