Drawn by tech, 17 advisors join Raymond James

Citing the appeal of Raymond James’ technology platform, 17 advisors from across the country have jumped to the independent-broker dealer from competitors including Ameriprise, RBC, Waddell & Reed and Wells Fargo.

“As we live through these difficult times, we are able to work remotely and seamlessly” thanks to Raymond James' strong platform, former RBC advisor Deborah Juran said in a statement.

Juran, founder of Juran Wealth Management in Monterey, California, and advisor Melissa Paddock managed $150 million in client assets while with RBC, with the help of client service manager Jocelyn Galvan.

The trio joined six other California-based advisors in making the move: Waddell & Reed alums David Colley and Jim Mills-Winkler signed on with the IBD in Long Beach, and Rod Smith, formerly of Wells Fargo in Newport Beach.

Colley and Mills-Winkler joined Raymond James-affiliated Crux Wealth Advisors in Long Beach. Four more advisors followed Colley from Waddell & Reed to Crux, where he now serves as the firm’s chief operating officer. They are Deana Dyjor, Dane Gambill, Ken Newberry and David Tamashiro.

Although they operated separately while at Waddell & Reed, Colley and Mills-Winkler managed a combined $235 million in client assets, according to Raymond James.

In Overland Park, Kansas, seven former Ameriprise advisors made the move. The team, operating as Caliber Wealth Management, comprises advisors Mark Albright, Andrew Dibble, Cole Dimond, Reisha Fregoe, Bob Olvera, Michael Richards and Michael Ward.

Albright serves as Caliber’s CEO, Dibble as CFO, Dimond as COO, and Ward as chief business development officer.

“Technology in today’s world is key and we are excited about the best-in-class portfolio construction tools, but also greater access to and integration of third-party tech,” Ward said in a statement.

Formerly the Caliber advisors managed $350 million in client assets at Amerprise. The team is joined by paraplanner Brent Bloomer; Linda Daza, client service manager; Frances Gingles, client relationship manager; and administrative assistants Donna Hankins and Katie Manning.

In Newport Beach, former Wells Fargo advisor Smith joined the Raymond James-affiliated Concurrent Network. He is the fourth advisor in the past quarter to join Concurrent. At Wells Fargo, Smith managed more than $111 million in client assets.

Raymond James has been working to expand its footprint throughout the West, particularly in California, the company says.
