2013 RIA Roadshow Hits Midwest in Fall

The 2013 RIA Roadshow will kick off a six-city tour of the Midwest on Sept. 24 in Troy, Mich.

The free half-day events of local educational seminars will offer registered investment advisors best practice advice, including an overview of the investing landscape, preparation techniques for a state or SEC regulatory exam, how to more efficiently handle small accounts, and how to most effectively communicate with clients.

The roadshow agenda will also focus on industry developments such as the evolution of social media and how to incorporate new and traditional assets classes into a firm's investment strategy.

The Michigan event will be held in Troy’s Management Education Center. On Sept. 25, the Roadshow moves to the Union Club in Cleveland and to the Sheraton Station Square in Pittsburgh the following day.

The Westin hotels in Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Columbus, Ohio, will be the sites of the roadshow from Oct. 14 to Oct. 16.

"These roadshows will prove to be significant for RIAs unable to take a lot of time away from their schedules to attend traditional industry events and conferences," said Brian Davis of Scottrade Advisor Services, one of the roadshow’s sponsoring partners and organizers. "The RIA Roadshow will allow the industry to come to their markets, providing an opportunity for RIAs to learn and put to use information immediately to help grow their business."

Other Roadshow sponsoring partners and organizers include Federated Investors, Millennium Trust Company, RIA in a Box, Smarsh and Trust Company of America.
