Access Data Taps Retirement Plan Veteran

Stephen Cronin has been named managing director of retirement services for Access Data Corp., a firm that offers business software and managed services for the financial services industry.

The position is new at Access Data. Cronin's responsibilities will be to help the firm's retirement services customers find and implement new ways to capture rollover assets, increase retirement product distribution and improve service and profitability, according to the company. He will be based in the firm's Boston office.

"The Enron debacle has fueled a great deal of defined contribution legislative and regulatory proposals and called attention to the need for more extensive employee education and advice on retirement plans," Cronin said. "My new position at Access Data will allow me to apply two decades of industry insight toward helping retirement plan providers overcome these challenges and identify opportunities for continued growth."

Cronin joined Access Data from Boston Financial Data Services, where he served as VP of corporate marketing and retirement sales. There, he was responsible for marketing and selling products and services for Boston Financial Data's mutual fund operations division, and he managed the firm's 100-employee transfer agency division.

He was previously senior VP and director of retirement services at Federated Investors, where he directed retirement plan sales and led the company's defined contribution plan administration division.
