AFL-CIO, Pax World, Fund Democracy Launch Proxy Comment Web Site

The AFL-CIO, Pax World Funds and Fund Democracy, the brainchild of shareholder advocate and former SEC official Mercer Bullard, are set to launch a Web site tomorrow at 1:30 p.m., where investors will be encouraged to weigh in on proposed SEC regulations that would require mutual fund companies to reveal how they vote their proxies.

The Web site, www.mutualfundproxyvotes.com, will focus attention on excessive CEO compensation, worker rights, global warming, board independence, sweatshops and tobacco.

Whether the rule proposal moves ahead is likely to turn on the depth and intensity of individual investor support, according to the organizations.
