After Fidelity Stint, Whiston Joins Putnam Institutional Unit

Putnam Investments announced Thursday that Sandra C. Whiston has been named head of institutional sales and relationship management, effective April 12.  After an eight-month stint at Fidelity Management and Research, Whiston returns to Putnam where she previously worked for 18 years in the company's institutional business.

"We are delighted that Sandi is back at Putnam," said John F. Boneparth, head of global institutional management.  "She is a seasoned executive who has a deep understanding of the company, our culture, clients, investment capability and the industry."

"This role is a natural progression in her Putnam career that has included initiation of our consultant relations team, our strategic relationship team capability, and serving as one of our most senior account executives," Boneparth said.

Whiston, who initially joined Putnam as a fund accountant, had worked in a range of responsible positions, some of which included institutional sales and marketing roles.  She has managed and developed teams useful in product management and investment services, investment strategy and research, and business strategy.

Whiston replaces Jeffrey Gould, who resigned recently to take a position at a hedge fund in New York.
