American Century Buys H&R Block Kansas City Building

American Century Investments has acquired a former H&R Block building near its headquarters in the twin towers on Main Street in Kansas City, the Kansas City Star reports. Terms of the deal, set to close on Nov. 30, were not disclosed.

“Given the proximity to our corporate headquarters, this property acquisition provides us with maximum flexibility and potential operating efficiencies as we evaluate current and future space needs,” said American Century EVP and CFO Jonathan Thomas, in a statement.

The mutual fund company employs 1,240 in the area, 600 of whom will be moved into the former H&R Block building.
