(Bloomberg) -- ETF issuer Global X did something highly unusual when it recently launched a spate of colorfully thematic ETFs. It picked boring tickers for them.

While the 22nd-largest ETF provider by assets might have chosen a ticker such as LOL or YOLO for its Global X Millennials Thematic ETF, it opted for the much more staid MILN. And instead of something like OLD or AGED, the ticker for the Global X Longevity Thematic ETF is simply LNGR. And instead of, say, HOLY for the Global X S&P 500 Catholic Values ETF, they went with CATH.
