Banc One Names New CFO

Banc One Investment Management Group, Bank One Corp.'s investment management unit, has named Mark Beeson CFO. The unit serves as investment advisor to the One Group Mutual Funds family.

Beeson will maintain his current role as CEO of One Group Mutual Funds, and will continue to report to Banc One CEO David Kundert. The company had been without a permanent CFO for about six months following Don Kimble's departure for AmSouth, according to Julie Crothers, a spokeswoman for Banc One. In that time, several members of the firm's finance department have served as interim CFO.

Beeson joined Bank One in 1994 as CFO of Banc One Investment Advisors Corp., the firm's registered investment advisory unit. In 1995, he was named head of One Group Mutual Funds.

One Group also announced two promotions. Robert Young was named COO, responsible for the day-to-day management of the fund family. Before the promotion, Young was managing director of mutual fund administration and support for five years at One Group. Previously, he served as an audit senior manager at Deloitte & Touche.

David Thorp has been promoted to senior managing director and national sales manager. He had been managing director and national sales manager for the fund complex for nine years. Previously, Thorp served as a regional representative for MetLife/State Street mutual funds.

Both Young and Thorp were promoted because of the additional responsibilities they have due to Beeson's promotion, Crothers said.
