Bear Stearns Adds Marketing Maverick

Bear Stearns & Co. has hired Debra Douglas as its new head of corporate marketing. Douglas will oversee Bear Stearns' marketing, advertising, corporate events and brand development.

She replaces Pam Cumming, who left the firm for unknown reasons. A Bear Stearns representative would not comment on Cumming's departure.

Before joining Bear Stearns, Douglas founded and ran her own business, Douglas Communications, a communications consulting business for corporations and new economy companies. Prior to that, Douglas was the head of global marketing and communications for CIBC World Markets, the investment banking and brokerage arm of CIBC. Douglas handled the firm's internal and external communications, brand strategy, advertising, media relations, corporate philanthropy and event production.

She has also worked for Barings plc, Salomon Brothers and the Royal Bank of Canada.
