Kenneth J. Berman, 45, associate director of the SEC's division of investment management, will leave his post in August to become a partner with Debevoise & Plimpton in Washington, D.C., according to the SEC. Berman will work in the firm's investment management practice.
Berman has been at the SEC since 1988 and has been in his current position as associate director since 1997 . In that capacity, he has been responsible for supervising a range of activities related to the regulation of investment companies. Prior to his appointment as associate director, Berman was assistant director of the division's office of regulatory policy and deputy chief of the division's office of disclosure and investment adviser regulation.
Berman played key roles in implementing amendments to the Investment Company Act enacted in 1996 and in overseeing regulations regarding money market funds.
