BMO Wealth Management bolsters financial planning team

BMO Wealth Management is sharpening its focus on financial planning.

The firm named a veteran of BMO Private Bank to a newly created post as head of Wealth Planning in the U.S.

Jason Miller is now responsible for strategic development and providing financial planning services to high-net-worth individuals and families. He is supported by four regional leaders of planning who are also new to their jobs.

Miller's appointment will help "elevate client experience through stronger planning capabilities," the bank said.

Miller was previously a vice president of Wealth Planning for BMO Private Bank, directing all financial planning activities in Arizona, Washington, Florida, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana and Missouri, according to his LinkedIn profile. He joined the bank in December 2010 as a wealth adviser associate.

"Wealth management is first and foremost about relationships, and as a trusted partner, Jason helps our clients and their families navigate a host of decisions and potential challenges," Darrell Hackett, president of BMO Wealth Management, said in a statement. "I have no doubt he will continue to provide exceptional leadership as we build upon our planning offerings."

The four regional leaders reporting to Miller are Dave Bensema, Kris Yamano, Steve White and Steve Williams. The regional leaders will be responsible for wealth planning as well as directing and coaching planning teams, the bank said.

Bensema, a 25-year veteran of BMO, was named regional leader of planning in Illinois. Yamano, a newcomer to BMO, was named regional leader of planning for the Sunbelt and Central states, while White was named regional leader of planning for the Northern states.
Yamano joined BMO Private Bank in May from Wells Fargo, where she was a senior wealth planning strategist. White has been with BMO since 2014.

Williams, a BMO veteran, was named national director of Financial Planning Delivery. He will continue to provide centralized support for the bank, which includes oversight of tools and technology, thought leadership and quality control, the bank said.

Miller continues to report to Caroline Dabu, head of Enterprise Wealth Planning.

"I am excited to continue to build upon the momentum of our dynamic wealth planning capabilities," Miller said in a statement. "My team now has an increased capacity to provide advanced and sophisticated personal financial planning strategies to help our clients and their families reach their goals."
